So the real reason anyone goes to SXSW is to check out the parties. We had that covered well.
Highlights of our two favorite parties:
Frog Design
Ok, for some weird reason the whole time we were in Austin, Dave, Roopan and I had our dress attire in total synchronicity. Thus, if you saw us at the FROG design party we were the guys who thought it would be bold to wear sport coats. Yep, truth is we were roasting in those coats. I think we were the only guys there in those heavy coats. WHY? Ohh, why.
Air Guitar Nation
Definitely the best party we were able to check out. The pics say it all.
So, we got into the Hotel San Jose here in Austin yesterday. Awesome hotel. We got in, got settled and decided on some beers here at the hotel. Dave and I ordered a Michelino to get into the local spirit. Turns out that is just a glass with tabasco sauce, which you then pour a beer in. We gave it a shot. It was rough. Dave and I ditched it in favor of plain ol’ beer. So, word to the wise - if you’re looking for something refreshing, be careful.
The hotel is great and the vibe is chill.
So, the PodDater crew made it to South by Southwest here in Austin, TX. Lots of new things to announce including the introduction of the PodDater Studio. It’s pretty simple. You go to the PodDater Studio, and click the record button. The application checks to see if you have the right hardware and then starts recording your video. Check it out.
So, David Evans over at the Online Dating Insider thinks Apple should start a dating service. I think this is a great idea!
Imagine getting your latest matches in iTunes. Say goodbye to the stigma of online dating once and for all.
Check.

Return of the Mustache
8 Comments Published by jon February 23rd, 2006 in Fun, Dating Tips, Trend Watching
I spotted a “mustache trend” on Agenda Feed.
A revolution is afoot, and the soldiers on the front lines may not realize how serious the fight has become: Mustaches are taking over New York City. The rebels themselves don’t know how it started.
“It just happened,” said the mustachioed NYU sophomore Armen Danilian, 19, as if a mustache fluttered down from the sky and landed on his upper lip. “I’m on that lazy-man note, you know?” That note is becoming a five-act opera.
Mustaches that sprouted last year out of laziness, or as jokes, or on dares, are clinging to skin and refusing to let go. Two years ago, mustaches on young men drew stares. These days, few men ride the L train without one.
Wow, I hope mustaches aren’t back in?? Guys mustaches scare people. My guess is a mustache will not help your dating life. Hey, but who am I to say. Grow a mustache, make a PodDater video and let us know. Ladies are you keen on this “mustache trend”? My guess is no.

PD FLIES SOUTH FOR THE WINTER
0 Comments Published by Roopan February 17th, 2006 in Uncategorized, Fun, EventsPD team buys tickets to fly south for the winter. Actually, South by Southwest (SXSW). We’re getting our batteries charged and cameras ready to record some PodDaters down south. Check out Ms.PodDater on our ad in the SXSW program. Pop us an e-mail if y’all want to meet us down there!
So the “true video iPod” will sport a 3.5-inch display and a touch-screen click wheel according to some digging by Think Secret.
Sources who have seen the device report that it features a digital click wheel, one that overlays the touch-sensitive display and appears when a finger touches it and disappears when the finger is removed.
Imagine, your PodDater profiles popping off that giant screen. With the exception of smudge marks on the screen (will it have a self-cleaning screen??) it would rock.

We made the LOGO2.0 Map! Guess that means we are officially famous in the world of Web2.0. Also, we won Round 3 of the Web2.0 Wars over on the Newsome Blog.
So, we were invited into the Apple Store here for an Apple InStore Event. Apple InStore Event. It was a marathon day of talking about PodDater. What is PodDating? How do you become a “PodDater”? Well, it was a blast to those that stopped by, here are some highlights:
- Security Alarm Scare: Yep, during a presentation the security alarm went off. It was loud, people scattered.
- Squeeky Shoes: A parent saw it fit to equip their youngster with some shoes that emit a red flashing light and sound off this loud squeek noise every time they hit the ground. Ok, try talking over that. Thanks Mom + Dad.
- Toddler Stare Down: This same toddler was strangely drawn to the speaking podium and proceeded to stare at a super close distance with an equal level of intensity. Ha, gotta love that.
It was really a fun day. Thanks to all that showed up. A special thanks to the folks at the Apple Store for making this happen.
I did an interview with Laura Marquez on ABC News Now. It was fun. Thanks ABC.
